Introducing Coup by Indie Boards and Cards.
So we have been all snuggled up watching lots of movies and TV shows during the snowy season, and it appears Netflix has been gearing us to play this game by recommending lots of shows and films which revolve around deception and government betrayal. 😅
Well, we are not one to let these subtle hints pass us by! 😎
✨GAMEPLAY✨:
Coup is a game of secret identities, deception and exile for 2-6 players.
Players take on the secret identities of two characters: The Duke, Assassin, Ambassador, Captain or Contessa. 👀
Once the players have their two cards face down in front of them, their goal is to gain influence while eliminating all the influence of the other players. This exposes their secret identities and exiles them from the game. 😬
Each turn is spent by taking one action:
There are actions which each character can take such as taking coins from the treasury or forming a Coup to eliminate a player's face down identity, and also character specific actions like taking taxes (more coins), assassinating an influence (or stopping an assassination), exchanging cards and even stealing. 😏
But here's the thing... No one knows who each other really is! 🤔 Is your friend REALLY The Duke? Or is he lying to claim more coins as tax? You gotta believe or accuse, and that's where it gets dicey. 😉
Accusing another player forces them to reveal one of their identities. If they were caught in the wrong, that identity remains face up in front of them and the player is left with only one.
But accuse wrong, and YOU lose an identity instead! Run out of face down cards, and you're out! 🤷🏾♂️
Overall this is a nice and quick filler game. It doesn't hit our table that often, but when it does it's always a fun time.
Enjoy! 🤓
